Everyone really enjoyed hearing Allan Wright speak about Jesus in the
home. He made the stories from the Bible come alive for everyone. He
made us think about what could actually have occurred at the time. He had
the talent to place his audience right into the scene as it was happening.
It gave everyone a new perspective on some of the stories of Jesus' miracles.
Saint Patrick's hopes to invite Allen Wright back to WPC to
present his first book "Silent Witnesses". Be sure not to
miss it!
Jesus
in the House: Gospel Reflections on Christ’s Presence in the Home, By
Allen Wright
“Why
did Jesus spend so much time in the homes and houses of the people?” Allan
Wright asks. “How did Jesus’ own
experience of home assist in his formation throughout his childhood and
facilitate his understanding of the importance of home?
More importantly, what lessons are there for us?
Do we still need the presence of Jesus in our homes today?
How much different would homes be today if we taught, forgave, healed and
shared meals as Jesus did?”
So many of the Gospel stories take place in the home; the Visitation of
Mary, Wise Men presenting their gifts to Jesus, the healing of Peter’s mother in
law, the Last Supper and the meal at Emmaus to name a few.
Allan Wright focuses on a few of the many Gospel events in which Jesus
heals, forgives, teaches and shares meals in the house.
His book provides some very practical examples which will enable and
challenge us to bring Jesus’ presence into our homes in the midst of our busy
schedules.
